Arnav Divaker Wins Gold at the Swim Stars Open Waters 2015, Singapore

Arnav Divaker won a Gold medal in the Singapore Swim Stars Open Water Meet-2015. Arnav, a student of GEMS World Academy in Singapore, trains with Mr. Pradeep Kumar at Basavanagudi Aquatic Center in Bengaluru. The meet was conducted in the sea on 10th October 2015 near Changi Coast Walk, Singapore.

In spite of being a first time open water swimmer, Arnav bagged the gold with a knack. The open water meet had two events - 800 meters and 4 km for swimmers aged 14 years and above. More than 800 swimmers participated in the two categories.

Born in Pune, the young swimmer has won a total of 107 medals before clinching the open water gold medal and has been a part of the Karnataka 100m and 200m freestyle relay teams that have set national records in India.

After relocating to Singapore, Arnav has sought schools that train the students in sports too. The school (GEMS World Academy) has presented a scholarship to Arnav for his potential and performance in various disciplines like sports, academics, arts, etc.

Apart from training for about 5 hours each day and setting aside sometime for his academic assignments, the young lad enjoys watching the motor show Top Gear and a few comedy films. Olympian Michael Phelps and World Champion Aaron Peirsol, being the idols, Arnav aims to earn professional degrees in Engineering and Business Management.
